Instructional Tours

Our instructor paddleboard tours leave from our Mill Bay dock, we will take you through the fundamentals of paddling, work on some skills so you feel confident on the boards and then we embark on our paddling adventure. This is a two hour tour, with the option of keeping the paddleboard after for an extra hour.

  • Mill Bay location is sheltered and calm, with access to beautiful views, bird life and marine life. This location is ideal for newer paddlers looking to get on the water for a few hours.

Courses

It is an activity that can be enjoyed by all, it promises lots of fun and is a great workout! Blue Dog is offering paddleboard instructional tours, skills courses and rentals from our paddling center in Mill Bay.

  • The flatwater course is an introduction skills course that helps promote good technique, basic skills and safety. Course is active, paddling and water based activities, with a little bit of land based information and theory on equipment. No experience is required, lots of fun guaranteed & a high chance of getting wet is promoted.

    This program is three hours, and successful paddlers will get a Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater Certificate.

    $95 (plus gst and service fee)

  • This course will help perfect your own paddle boarding skills while enriching your knowledge & confidence to teach the Basic & Advanced flat water skills course. Over the 2 days you will learn effective instructional techniques, develop leadership skills, group management, and safety planning while on the safe, sheltered waters of Mill Bay.

    Requirements for certification:
    - 18 years & up
    - Paddle Canada membership (will get registration form before the program- $100 fee)
    - Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater SUP skills certification, or equivalent skills and knowledge
    - Current certification in standard first aid with CPR (14–16 hours)

    Successful paddlers will gain a Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater Instructor certification and be able to run their own sauctioned programs.

  • Thinking of hosting some friends, having dinner and a paddle, someone’s big birthday. We do group pricing and special events. To find out more please email us at paddle@bluedogkayaking.com. For group bookings we need a minimum of two weeks notice.

Rental Costs

  • Our multi hour rentals are great for beginner or seasoned paddleboarders. These rentals leave directly from the Mill Bay dock, where you can go explore the shoreline and enjoy some marine life, bird life and enjoy some sun and salt water.

    Best times to rent is in the morning when the ocean is calmer or after 4.30 pm when the temperatures are cooling down.

  • Wetsuit $20/day or $80/week
    Drysuit: $50/day or $150/week

Terms & Conditions

  • Prices are exclusive of GST & booking fee

  • We reserve the right to charge the credit card used to place the booking, should any equipment be missing, damaged or comprised in anyway on return.

  • Renters should be able to demonstrate sufficient paddling skills and experience, we reserve the right to refuse to rent where the renter is clearly a liability to both themselves and other water users.

  • Booked online or over the phone, no walk ins.
