Amber Takes On The Amazon

In June of 2024 I will be taking part in paddling sections of the Amazon River, where myself and Jill Brown will race over 260 km through the Amazon supporting local indigenous Asháninka communities and learning about their culture. We will be paddling along the Ene & Tambo rivers of the Amazon in traditional canoes, while raising funds and awareness for the Asháninka indigenous communities who call the region home. A large part of this experience is to break the myths surrounding the Asháninka indigenous communities and bring international visibility to the issues of illegal deforestation, land grabbing & invasions for coca cultivation, and abuse of communities.

Our team goal is to raise awareness, by documenting our trip through photos and videos and funds for the local indigenous communities. We would like to raise $12,000+ to support this venture, with the guarantee for a phenomenal post race story time, breathtaking photos and thrilling videos. We would like to give you an inside account of what is was like to get to know this community and to be of a select few to get to explore the Amazon River, and learn the customs of the Asháninka people.

Over the next few months we will continue to upload more information about our route, our plan and our fundraising needs and goals.
In the meantime, if you can share this far and wide please do so & if you have the ability to donate, please do so.
