Paddlers Workshop
Dates:
2nd and 4th April
Price: $50 per person
Starts 10am at Mill Bay Marina
These workshops are packed with skills based hands on learning, paddle techniques, rescue skills and covers some of those must know theory subjects.
Our main goal is to share our passion for sea kayaking, and help prepare paddlers for their future adventures. Activities focus on safety and gaining the paddling and seamanship skills necessary for a day trip within a sheltered bay along a shoreline with easy landing opportunities.
The "core" paddling strokes, wet exits and proven rescue techniques make up the bulk of this excellent workshop.
Loaded with learning and fun, this day is MUST for any new paddler or Kayakers wishing to re-visit skills.
This is an organized event which is being run by certified Paddle Canada instructors. Your safety is our number 1 concern and participants must ensure they have the correct safety gear and a sea worthy kayak (correctly fitted seat, foot pegs, water tight hatches and perimeter lines on the deck) If anyone has any questions about this please give me a call on 250 710 7693
We have 8 places available on a first come first served basis.
This workshop also provides participants with the opportunity to test paddle the full range of NDK Kayaks along with Lendal, Celtic and Gear Lab paddles. Those paddlers wishing to test paddle or try gear need to let us know by email in advance so we can make sure the correct kayak and equipment is made avaialble.

Advanced Paddlers Workshop
Dates: 3rd and 5th April
Based at our Paddling Center at Port Sidney Marina & The Gulf Islands
Price: $50
When out paddling you may have to take responsibility for other paddler’s safety; As a leader or paddle coordinator some group participants probably expect you to have appropriate training and experience. In some countries a leader is legally required to have appropriate qualifications. Whether legally required or not, coaching qualifications and experience are useful indicators of the skills you need before you can reasonably take a group to sea.
The day will focus on safety, judgement and rescues including a complex towing scenario, scoop and HOG. Participants can expect some some stroke development. A full outline of the day will be available on registration, there will be a presentation of the "Lemon Theory" at lunchtime.
Participants can provide their own kayak and safety gear. A dry suit is required to participate in this workshop (no exceptions) if you don't have a dry suit you can tent one from for $30 for the day.
