This expedition is aimed at paddlers looking to discover more about fishing from a sea kayak. Where to fish, what tackle plus what fish species to target is all covered on this expedition. Catching fish is just the start as guests will also learn to fillet, clean and cook their catch for dinner!
So, join us on this unsupported fishing expedition to one of Vancouver Islands most beautiful and remote kayaking destinations. We start with a two hour water taxi ride from Fair Harbour to the south coast of the majestic Brooks Peninsula where our fishing expedition will begin at Battle Bay or the Cuttle Islands.
Next stop, the magical Bunsby Islands; a paradise of hidden islands and calm crystal clear waters teaming with wildlife. The area is steeped in history and culture.
Our final location is Spring Island, another Island paradise with wonderful beaches, reefs and islets, great fishing spots.
A return water taxi is scheduled for our final morning back to Fair Harbour.
Skill Level Required
This is a remote location, so previous paddling experience in a sea kayak is definitely a requirement for this expedition. Participants are to be proficient but not highly-skilled paddlers, you should be familiar with the core paddling strokes and able to perform a wet exit and rescues if required. Previous experience camping in the back-country is helpful. We could be exposed to wind and waves on this trip, plus there is one long day as we move locations of 9 nautical miles so a good forward stroke is an asset.
Sea kayak fishing experience is NOT required but a keen interest in learning how, where and when to catch fish is.
