Broken Group of Islands – SUP Tours

The Broken Group of Islands consists of over 100 islands, islets and rocky outcrops scattered in the center of Barkley Sound, between Loudoun Channel and Imperial Eagle Channel, and totals 10,607 hectares, of which only 1,350 hectares is land. This maze of islands protected by the Pacific Rim National Park is a paddlers paradise offering one of the top paddling destinations on the planet with unprecedented paddling opportunities for experienced and new paddlers. At times you’ll definitely feel the motion of the ocean swells, but the better part of our paddling journey through Barkley Sound is not exposed.

Blue Dog Kayaking in partnership with Swell Paddle and Surf are offering this trip. Join us on this unique SUP adventure. During this 4 day paddling expedition be prepared to camp in the most scenic of campsites, enjoy the natural beauty of the islands, eat good food & enjoy the experience with like minded people. Paddle Canada SUP Touring certification available

Skill Level Required

The Broken Group is not very exposed and paddler boarders will enjoy the experience. A Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater SUP skills or equivalent is quite adequate to join one of our Broken Group Expeditions.

Trip Fees

4 Day Expedition $650 + 5% GST

Broken Group is subject to a $16.90 daily permit and camping fee per person as we are travelling in a National Park. This fee is INCLUDED in the booking price.

What's Included

Experienced SUP instructors with previous experience of running expeditions to this location. Group gear for the expedition (tarp, kitchen equipment, utensils, water filtration, etc) - Good simple meals twice a day. First aid and kayak repair kits - Communication devices (VHF Radios and Garmin In reach) - 4:1 minimum participant to Instructor ratio. Paddle Canada "L 2 Skills "certification (optional)

Whats NOT included

Transportation to and camping at Secret Beach. Personal snacks and drinks.

The following items are NOT included in the price but can be rented when booking if required.

High quality paddle board safety gear, dry suit, carbon paddle, personal camping gear.
