The Gulf Islands are wonderful place to go kayaking; blessed by a Mediterranean climate
The Gulf Islands is a collection of islands and islets with rocky shorelines and steep bluffs situated off the southern coast of British Columbia. Warm and dry in the summer and mild and wet in the winter. They were inhabited by semi-nomadic First Nations people and settled by Europeans in the-mid 1800s with many of the Islands boasting some 'interesting' history.
There are many unique rock formations and sculptures formed from the sea which we can explore by kayak. The islands are teaming with wildlife; various birds, seals, otters, porpoises and Orca inhabit the Islands and waterways. At low tide the inter-tidal creatures are amazing to see.

4 Day Gulf Islands Adventure
Paddle Canada L2 skills - Expedition Based Learning.
We run this program as an expedition spending four days and 3 nights in the islands, teaching you about weather interpretation, tides & currents, navigation, risk management and camp cooking. We take a guided discovery approach allowing for participants to reach their desired outcomes on their own, as instructors we facilitate this learning and assist where it’s needed. During this course participants will be empowered to plan day trips, lead the group safely on the water, and be given navigation challenges.
This program is designed to integrate intermediate paddling with expedition behavior; as a certification course the instructors work to provide participants with the skills and knowledge for proficient kayaking in moderate conditions, on overnight trips along moderately exposed shore with frequent easy-landing opportunities. During the 4 days our instructors will work to create safe and challenging environments to improve your skills, better preparing you for longer paddling trips. Participants will also learn about tarping, setting up camp for increment weather, and camp cooking.
Participants should have Paddle Canada L1 skills or equivalent paddling experience.
